About Us
The Lawrence Public Library District is located at 814 12th St., Lawrenceville, IL. The Lawrence Public Library provides free services to all residents living in Lawrence County.
On July 1, 2012, the four automated library consortia in Illinois Heartland Library System merged to form SHARE (Sharing Heartland’s Available Resources Equally). SHARE encompasses 427 libraries throughout the southern half of Illinois.
On April 9, 2013, SHARE went live with a new automation platform, known as Polaris. Each of the former library systems changed from having over 2,000,000 items in each of their online catalogs to 9.5 million, and from more than 250,000 patrons each to nearly 1,600,000 total. Several library experts agree, SHARE is the largest library automation consortium in the country, and the Lawrence Public Library is a member!
